So much can be said about water and the spiritual attraction it offers. Island in the Attersee by Gustav Klimt is a spiritual experience of the lake. This painting was done in 1901, but the experience is timeless.

The strokes of pale lavender, emerald green, and pink play off the neon yellow as the sun flickers and reflects on this summer's day. Nothing distracts us as we look across the water, only the silent currents of the depths, as the water gently bobs endlessly up and down. We experience the island only as the tip of a giant paintbrush being dipped into the lake of tranquility and solitude.
